Older Adult CouncilThe philosophy of the council is that the older members of the church should be in ministry as well as have special programs and ministries offered to them. We believe it is important for the church to provide many activities for our older, faithful members, as well as to children, youth, young and middle aged adults and families. And our Older Adult group is the fastest growing demographic group in our society. As healthcare improves, we are living longer, and the church is very much concerned about the quality of life of our older members. Some of the programs and activities we offer are: Silver and GoldThis is a monthly program and luncheon our church offers to older adults in our area. It is open to anyone who wishes to attend. We have many regulars from various downtown churches. The programs are either informative or entertaining. XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest)XYZ plans out of town trips to places like New Orleans, Birmingham, Montgomery, Lake Junaluska, Blue Lake, or the like, about three or four times a year. These trips, also, are open to people from other churches. Older Adults' Lunch Day OutOnce a month we have an Older Adults' Lunch Day Out. We congregate at a popular local restaurant and enjoy good food and fellowship around the table. Card & Board GamesVarious individuals offer games days and will invite other Older Adults to play bridge, Scrabble, and others. Other OpportunitiesWe have many Older Adults who participate in programs like Stephen Ministry, Good Shepherds, Kitchen Workers, Wedding Hostesses and the Senior Adult Choir. Many of our Older Adults have a lot to offer the church and community and we're happy to have you. First United Methodist Church Pensacola
